Animation studio
Pixar Animation Studios is the Academy Award–winning computer-animation studio behind Toy Story, WALL·E, Up, Coco and Inside Out, based in Emeryville, California and owned by The Walt Disney Company.
Pixar Animation Studios is the Emeryville, California studio that effectively invented the modern computer-animated feature. Spun out of Lucasfilm's computer division in 1986 with funding from Steve Jobs, Pixar released Toy Story - the first fully CGI-animated feature - in 1995, and has since produced more than 30 films alongside pioneering technology like its RenderMan software. It has been a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company since 2006.
Perhaps surprisingly for a studio of its scale, pixar.com runs on Squarespace - a strong signal of how far the platform can stretch for a global entertainment brand. The site is organised into Films (features, shorts, series, SparkShorts and documentaries), Technology (RenderMan, OpenUSD, Software R&D), Careers and the company's own story, fronted by a bold, poster-led homepage promoting current and upcoming releases.
